                 BALBACH ’21 AND PRAME ’21 NAMED NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS

According to the National Merit
Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), approximately
1.5 million entrants from more than 21,000
high schools entered the 2021 National Merit
Scholarship program by taking the Preliminary
SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test (NMSQT). Roughly 16,000 students qualified as semifinalists. To qualify as a semifinalist, a student must exhibit an exemplary academic record, submit a scholarship application, and earn a qualifying score on the SAT. The nationwide pool of National Merit semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of the nation’s high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
   KIONDO ’21 NAMED NATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN RECOGNITION PROGRAM SCHOLAR
Greyson Kiondo, Jr. ’21 has been named a National African American Recognition Program Scholar by the College Board. Greyson scored in the top 2.5% of PSAT/NMSQT test takers who identify as one or more of the following: African American, Hispanic American or Latinx, Indigenous, or attend school in a rural area, or are from a small town.
Greyson qualified for the College Board recognition by achieving the minimum requested PSAT/NMSQT scores, earning a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA by the middle of his junior year.

Congratulations to the International Relations Club leaders Brendan Hee ’21 and Chris Roberts ’21 as they led their joint Georgetown Prep and Stone Ridge team to a resounding victory at
the 39th Model Organization of American States (MOAS) simulation.
As a result of their diligent resolution preparation, outstanding debating prowess, and diplomatic negotiation
skills, Georgetown Prep’s delegation distinguished itself by capturing key leadership positions for next year’s
40th MOAS conference:

 Initiated in 1983
by the College Board,
the National Hispanic
Recognition Program identifies outstanding Hispanic high school students and shares information about these academically well- prepared students with subscribing colleges and universities.
The three Prep seniors recognized scored in the top 2.5% of PSAT/NMSQT test takers who identify as one or more of the following: African American, Hispanic American or

Each year, the National Hispanic Recognition Program identifies approximately 7,000 of the highest-scoring students from
a nationwide total of 250,000. In order to be eligible, students must be at least one-quarter Hispanic.
