 2.3 Vision, Mission, and Core Values
 Vision
Our vision for TREC is influenced by three factors: the need to address the concerns of our local com- munities, the objectives and goals of UF/IFAS, and global developments. Our vision is therefore:
To be a pioneer in developing science-based solutions for natural resource management and tropical and subtropical agriculture.
Mission
To support and protect tropical and subtropical agriculture in Florida and preserve Florida’s natural resources through discovery, development, and dissemination of science- based knowledge, tools, and feasible solutions.
Core Values
The following values will guide and characterize our actions to ensure success and robust perfor- mance of our work:
 Community
We are client and stakeholder focused and committed to serving south Florida’s agriculture, urban, and natural resource needs by designing programs that deliver services effectively and in a sustainable manner.
 Innovation
 We continuously embrace innovation to find new solutions to existing and new challenges.

  We strive for outcomes that exceed expectations, and apply rigor and diligence to all our work.

We are service-oriented and our programs are designed to provide high quality education and training to our students, and outputs and outcomes that are targeted to our clients.

  We embrace collaboration, working in a cooperative manner with a range of local, national, and international institutions and groups.
