Our mega journey continues! Following the huge success of Season 1, we are rolling again. This time we’ve gone deeper and found the biggest, the heaviest, and the most expensive cargo on earth. This is transportation at its most epic and dramatic. Workers are pushed to their limits and machinery is operated at capacity and beyond as huge teams across many countries execute pin-point planning to deliver on time - every time. This is ‘Mega Transports’!
As coral reefs around the world struggle to survive and global fish populations suffer steep declines, an unlikely hero comes to the rescue; a Boeing 747. Stripped and reduced to its bare aluminium wings and fuselage, a Jumbo jet might seem like an unlikely saviour for the oceans of the world. But in twenty meters of water just off the island nation of Bahrain, there’s a 747 that’s a living testament to the restorative power of a well-placed Jumbo jet. This stunning, documentary is a world exclusive, inside account of how a 200-ton aviation giant is transformed; first into a winged submarine, and then into a unique platform that can propel environmental healing and underwater conservation. Featuring a dramatic combination of edge-of-your- seat storytelling, big engineering and eye-popping science and natural history, ‘A Plane to Save the Oceans’ is the unique, blue-chip account of an experiment that’s proved so successful, it’s about to be repeated.

In preparation for the first human mission to Mars, six volunteers take part in the ultimate dress rehearsal, living inside a year-long NASA simulation to understand the psychological effects of isolation on the human mind. ‘Red Heaven’ goes beyond the technological challenges of space exploration and looks at the psychological and emotional tolls of what happens when we finally reach our extraterrestrial destination. Are we capable of adapting to life on a hostile planet? In another world, can we hold on to our humanity? Shot by the subjects themselves over the course of the mission, ‘Red Heaven’ vividly captures what happens when humans are isolated from planet Earth.

‘Pass the Salt’ investigates the mysteries of one of our most fundamental elements - salt. It’s an exploration that takes us from far beneath the earth’s crust to the inner workings of the human body in a search for the real answers to a mounting debate about the benefits and dangers of sodium chloride (table salt). ‘Pass the Salt’ uses creative and stylish visual analogues to bring this science to life. One would think that our understanding of something as basic as salt (sometimes referred to as “the fifth element”) would be straightforward, but the humble salt-shaker holds many mysteries. We meet passionate players from both sides of the dinner table and discover how long-held beliefs are being questioned – and how everything we thought we knew about salt may be wrong. We taste-test salts from around the world, de-bunk myths, and re-examine data. We join scientists and scholars, salt harvesters, chefs and specialists on the front lines of the “Great Salt Debate” in labs, kitchens, salt harvesting operations and even spaceships. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore new science about an ancient substance that’s been a part of culture and cuisine from our very beginnings. Should everything we thought we knew about sodium be taken with a grain of salt?
