 NONE OF THEM IS LOST
Of particular interest in the prayers He offered in this situation is the truth that He had not lost any of the people committed into His hands while He was with them. These referred to His disciples, whether they be among the core group of disciples, members of His family who had eventually believed in Him and followed Him, or any other person who believed in Him. He prayed that God will keep them from being lost to the world. That is, that they should not depart from the path He had showed them to walk in.
We all have people committed into our hands to superintend over spiritually. Every child of God in their walk in faith on the earth will have at different times people for whom they have spiritual oversight and responsibility, directly or indirectly. These could be people who they led to Christ, those with whom they have reasonable or significant influence, those whom they lead, mentor or coach in one sphere of life or another, to mention a few.
We have our spouses, children, subordinates or colleagues at work, friends, associates, leaders, other believers, to mention a few. We have spiritual responsibility directly or indirectly over all these people whether we choose to accept it or not. We are called to be our brother’s keepers. This we must demonstrate by taking spiritual responsibility for their spiritual wellbeing through constant prayers to God on their behalf.
