 BULLSEYE PRAYERS
tells us that the evil one departed from Him at the end of that encounter only to seek “an opportune time” to come back.
Luke 4:13 NKJV
Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
The evil one goes about all day and everyday looking for whom to afflict. He left Jesus on that occasion and showed up again at a later date, operating through Peter. Jesus had promptly realised that the evil one was speaking through Peter when Peter suggested that he would not die and rise up again in Matthew 16. Jesus, who had a custom of prayer, was very sensitive to the manifestation of the evil one and promptly shut him up.
Matthew 16:21-23 NKJV
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. [22] Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!” [23] But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
