BULLSEYE PRAYERS
It is not in word and tongue but must be in deed! For the avoidance of doubt, it is not necessarily in speaking in tongues of men and angels. It is equally not in the gift of prophecies, understanding mysteries, knowledge and great faith. And it is not necessarily in feeding the poor or giving our bodies to be burnt. Unless and until these things are motivated by love, none of them will give us any eternal benefit with God.
Let’s be clear about something most profound in these scriptures. That you speak in tongues of men and/or angels is not proof that you love God. That you speak prophecies, understand great mysteries, knowledge and possess faith that move mountains is not proof that you love God. Again, the fact that you give to the poor and are so selfless that you can give anything to others is not proof that you love God. All these things can still be present in each believer while the love of God is absent in them.
The expression of love is in the attributes described in the following verses of Scripture:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; [5] does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; [6] does not
