The Man In Love
perfect husband, where Christ is the benchmark for measuring perfection. That’s why Ephesians 4:12-13 talks about,
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
Ephesians 4:12-13
The glorious woman and wife, being the outcome of the husband’s show of Christ-like love, must be fully ingrained in the faith and in the knowledge of Jesus, be perfect and reflect the fullness of Christ in measure and stature.
In marriage therefore, the husband through love pursues the transformation of the wife unto a state of perfection. It is an aspiration that must constantly be in our face because it will abide with us until we leave this world. Paul said of this type of quest in Philippians 3:12-14 that
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
