The Man In Love
They had no reason to regret the fact that they had left everything to follow Him. Even at that Jesus reiterated emphatically to them that they would receive a reward here on earth and also in heaven. In Matthew 29:28-29 Jesus said,
So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

With such comforting reassurances, is it any wonder that Peter was in love with Jesus? Jesus first loved us and such was in part, the nature of His love toward us.
Finally, when you cherish something you take credible steps to give it protection. To show that we cherish our wives, husbands must ensure that they are well protected. Christ made solid protection for His church. In fact, He told Peter that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the church (Matthew 16:18).
