In addition, going by Colossians 1:18, husbands must be first in everything in the husband-wife relationship. He must have preeminence in the relationship as head just like Christ has preeminence in His relationship with the church. We, as members of the body of Christ, always put Jesus first in all that we think or do. We want to be sure of what He thinks, that He approves of our plan or action and would be pleased, and that He would not be offended in any way by what we do, among others. This is what the scripture means when it says that husbands must be put first in everything by their wives. Nothing should be done by the wife without considering first the interests and possible reactions of their husbands.
Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.
