The Man In Love
fruit, its food, is contemptible.’ You also say, oh, what a weariness!’ And you sneer at it,” says the Lord of hosts. “And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the sick; thus you bring an offering! Should I accept this from your hand?” says the Lord.
Malachi 3:9-10, 11-13
The people brought God offered animals that were blind, lame, sick and stolen when God required animals that were pure and without blemish. Although the people knew what God had commanded, they acted as though the command was burdensome to them. They did not pay proper attention to ensure that they met the requirements of God neither did they even seek to impress Him with the quality of what they brought. They did not attempt to exceed His expectations. The kind of things that could not be given to their governors were presented to God Almighty.
They were not committed to what they were doing and did it out of compulsion. The quality of their offering was appalling and nauseating. God was not impressed. In fact, rather than being impressed, they moved Him to wrath. Through our gestures of sacrifice we can put our wives in the same situation. When we choose not to be mindful of the quality of the sacrifice we make
