desired a gift, just as our wives do not necessarily make gifts mandatory from their husbands, but such gestures of sacrificial can be free willing, offering great benefits for the husbands. We see from this scripture also that the sacrifices of the Philippians were consistently acceptable and well pleasing to God.
SACRIFICE ON THE PLATFORM OF CONSECRATION. Hezekiah in the scripture below noted that the people had first consecrated themselves to the Lord before asking them to bring sacrifices to Him. There is something vital in this for us.
Then Hezekiah answered and said, “Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the Lord, come near, and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord.” So the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings, and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.
