the cards on the table, the issues become clear and the situation provides the first opportunity to deal with them as well.
Many issues between husbands and wives can and should be resolved at this level. One of the things that husbands and wives should avoid as much as possible is the interference and intervention of a third party into their affairs, whatever the person may be called.
In all the 33 years of my wife and I being together, not once have we exposed our issues to a third party nor has anyone had cause to come and settle any dispute between us. We sure have had issues but we always found a way to resolve them by ourselves. We resolved long ago before we got married that we would never allow any third-party into our marriage. It has worked so well for us. By the way, at no time was there a dispute between Jesus and His disciples that warranted resolution by a third party. That is contrary to the pattern that Jesus exhibited toward His church that we have been given as a benchmark!
