The Man In Love
with His command. The irony of the situation is that disobedience to one command implied the disobedience to the other commands. Adam failed to show ‘love’ in return for the great love that God had shown toward him and Eve. The failure to reciprocate God’s gesture of love, meant that man began to operate a nature contrary to that of God, and that undermined Man’s relationship with the one who created him. Man had allowed a contrary spirit to unseat the Spirit of love that God put in him when he breathed into his nostrils.
From this point and all through history, God sought to restore man to himself by showing love and demanding reciprocity from him. Being a God of love, that nature is the only one that can sustain any meaningful relationship with Him. That has been the emphasis that every of His provisions for restoration revolves around.
Hear what God told the children of Israel as He prepared to bring them into the land that He promised to their fathers in Deuteronomy 6:4-9,
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with
