The Man In Love
freely give His life for us. That love is what Jesus also taught us to live by.
A New Commandment Given
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35
Jesus gave a new commandment to us to love one another just as He had loved us. The truth is that He loved us in the same way as His Father loved Him. He was saying to us that we should express the same love that the Father has shown to us to others. The attribute of love that we show to one another will identify and authenticate us as His disciples. By replicating His love to others, He maintained that we would be demonstrating love toward Him and by implication, toward His Father. That was why 1 John 4:5 maintained that if we do not love our fellow man, we cannot claim to love God. However, the love of God in us becomes clear from the love we extend to one another.
