TANISHA FORDHAM COVER STORY
Go Black Boy Fly
The interview with TaNisha left nothing to the
imagination; TaNisha even goes into the little
details of hearing how the car sounded while
driving on the dark roads of the Mississippi,
where they filmed: it was quite fascinating. These
details, along with TaNisha’s authenticity and
honesty, took the interview to a whole new level
and I have to say, I became emotional and I had to
stop filming our podcast.
Not only is TaNisha a writer, director, content
creator and producer she is also the author of a
new book entitled, “Go Black Boy Fly.” Before I
even get into that I have to make sure this is
known because whenever I can, I try to pay
homage to teachers. Being raised by educators,
my mother and father spend endless time with
the future of tomorrow. They do not get as much
gratitude and acknowledgement as they should. I
am mentioning this because TaNisha is also a
teacher of Theatre and Film in Newark, New

students are her inspiration. I really admired and took to heart what she said about
how it brings her joy to teach. She has even decided to compete in the Mrs. NJ pageant
2019 as Mrs. Newark - she wanted to do so in an effort to inspire students and those in
the community she is apart of to believe, truly believe, that anything is possible. But,
that article will have to be written another day.
Now, let’s talk about, “Go Black Boy Fly,” the poetic narrative (book) written and
illustrated by TaNisha. “Go Black Boy Fly,” comes from her company Enlightened
Visions, Inc., which she has been CEO of for 12 years, now. She does about 3 to 4
projects a year through her company, and I for one cannot wait to see more from her
after this interview. Going back to the book, this book was inspired by a student
TaNisha once had named Nathaniel Boone. When you hear his story and why she
entitled the book, “Go Black Boy Fly,” you will be typing on Amazon to order your copy
of the book. This past summer, she even turned the book into a feature film.
