Centre for Grants Management and Resource
Mobilisation (CGMRM)
The Centre for Grants Management & Resource Mobilization (CGMRM)
serves a strategic role of mobilizing financial resources through consultancies
and grants in an effort to improve third stream income generation for the
university. It does this by providing crucial administrative and other support
services in grants applications and consultancy bids. The CGMRM carries out
important functions such as:
• Developing strategies for resource mobilization and for attracting grants
to improve third stream income for the University of Namibia;
• Developing and implementing the necessary systems and procedures,
including relevant policies and guidelines for resource mobilization and
grants management and related matters;
• Ensuring that all quality control mechanisms related to consultancies and
grants management adopted by the university are implemented and
adhered to;
• Actively identifying national and international funding opppotunities and
disseminate them to all relevant staff of the university;
• Facilitating training and capacity building of potential consultants as well
as facilitating training of potential grantees in grant writing and project
management;
• Facilitating preparations for competitive consultancy opportumities and
assisting potential consultants to prepare bankable consultancy bids;
• Identifying grant opportunities and providing support for the preparation
of bankable grant proposals through the necessary pre-award processes;
• Assisting consultants and researchers with the necessary post-award
processes including adherence to all consultancy and grant contractual
obligations, financial management, reporting and close-out of
consultancies and grants.

The Centre for Grants Management & Resource Mobilisation would thus
wish to encourage UNAM staff at all campuses to take advantage of the
professional services provided by the Centre to enhance their research and
consultancy capabilities so that they would be able to effectively participate
in generating additional income for the university and their respective units.
