Campus Activities
            Khomasdal Campus
            The Khomasdal Campus is a flagship campus in primary education teacher training. The Campus offers the
            Diploma in Junior Primary Education, Honours Degree in Junior Primary Education and Honours Degree in Upper
            Primary Education. The  Campus  also offers  bridging  programmes  namely,  the  Science  Foundation,  English
            Access , English Intensive and Mandarin. The Campus also upskills unqualified and underqualified teachers.

            Both academic and administrative staff are participating in staff development for diploma, undergraduate and
            postgraduate programmes, and are at different completion stages. Two administrative staff members have
            obtained their Bachelor degrees, two academic staff members have obtained their Masters degrees while
            two have obtained their PhDs. In addition to qualifying programmes, staff members have attended various
            capacity development workshops such as; online facilitation and online course development, writing workshops
            for lecturers, effective student assessment, and managing language diversity at educational institutions.


            Staff members also conducted research, and published research articles in journals, book chapters in books, and
            other publications. In addition to research and publications, staff members were also engaged in community
            services. Some of the engagements were conducting workshops for teachers and learners, Arts Education
            exhibitions, judging in Science Fairs, and hosting of the 15  Namibian Children Book Forum Awards Ceremony.

            Neudamm Campus
            The Neudamm Campus is an agriculture training and research campus and hosts the Faculty of Agriculture
            and Natural Resources. The academic programmes consist of Food Science and Technology, Animal Science,
            Agriculture Economics, and Veterinary  Medicine,  and are complemented  by  commercial farming. The
            educational programmes together with farming activities enable the students to experience agriculture on a
            daily basis, and support Work Integrated Learning (WIL). The farm competes at the Windhoek Agricultural Show,
            and the Campus breeding animals have won the Afrikaner Breed and Reserve Breed Champion Bull, Kalahari
            Red Goat Senior Champion and Grand Champion Ewe, Kalahari Red Reserve Senior Champion Ewes, Afrikaner
            Breed and Reserve Breed Champion Cow at the Agriculture Show in 2018.


            The Anatomy Laboratory and the Post Mortem Building at the Campus were upgraded, and the surgical wet
            laboratory and surgical theatre were constructed during the reporting period. The objective was to improve
            teaching facilities of the School of Veterinary Medicine. The Namibia Veterinary Council has offered to conduct
            series of audits on the School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. This was in preparation of the accreditation of the
            degree of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. The Department of Animal Science during the period under review has
            applied for the registration of the Doctor of Philosophy in Agriculture, Master of Science in Agriculture (Animal
            Science) and Master of Rangeland Management with the Namibia Qualifications Authority.


            Regarding staff development, four academic staff continued with their PhD and MSc studies. Two staff members
            from the Department of Animal Health completed their PhDs. Furthermore, the Departments of Animal Science,
            Agriculture Economics and Food Science had three students pursuing their PhDs by thesis and eight students
            doing their MSc by research and coursework. Academic staff also published articles in peer reviewed journals,
            and presented academic papers at conferences.


            Academic staff at the Campus were involved in several joint research activities and sourced funding institutions
            and industry.  A total of N$ 4 430, 00.00 was raised for research activities. Some of the research projects were:
            •   TWINLAB INITIATIVE  (Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources) - A  Memorandum  of Agreement
                to the value of 98 000. 00 Euro was signed with the University of Porto paving the way for the establishment
                of a state of the art Genetic Laboratory.
            •   BUSH-T0-FEED Project  - The objective  of the Bush-to-Feed Project in value addition to encroacher bush
