            Activities
              Children’s collection: Preschool – 5th graders collected various items to donate to organizations in our
                area, many of which are supported by grants from the Board of Social Justice and Action.
              Stop Hunger Now!: Westmorelanders of all ages packaged 10,000 meals for those in need.
              David and the Giants: children’s musical presentation
              Film series: Weeknight dinner and discussion series on films highlighting current issues related to
                economic injustice.
              Peace Camp: Summer learning experience for elementary school aged children
              National Youth Event: 12 Westmorelanders travelled to Orlando, FL to participate in the UCC’s
                quadrennial youth conference.
              End-of-Year picnic: Enjoyed food from Damascene Catering, a business started by Syrian refugees.
              Summer on the Circle: Hands-on mission projects led by children and youth to benefit local social
                service organizations.
              White privilege class: Adult study unpacking issues related to white privilege
              Our Whole Lives: Human sexuality course concluded for our 7th-9th graders
              Confirm not Conform: UCC confirmation course began for our 8th-10th graders

            Volunteer Corps Board

            Entering its thirty-third year, Westmoreland’s
            Volunteer Corps continues to thrive, offering five
            young people an opportunity for year-long
            meaningful service, simple living and spiritual
            growth in an intentional community, located in our
            former parsonage just a block from the church. The
            active board of nearly a dozen members works
            closely with community liaison Yonce Shelton to
            create a welcoming environment to enable
            volunteers to grow as individuals, build community   2016/2017 Volunteer Corps Volunteers
            and engage the world.

              Health care and social service agencies have been the backbone of agency placements for
                Westmoreland’s volunteers for decades. Over the last several years, board members have recruited
                several new social justice agencies for volunteer placement, tackling challenging societal issues such as
                restorative justice, economic inequality and immigrant rights. New social justice agencies include
