clogged drains that lead to water leaks). Work in the Children’s Center includes new tile for the hallways
and classrooms as well as more asbestos removal from one of the storerooms.
Members of the Property Committee will also participate with the Building 2020 team in its work to
improve handicapped accessibility and reorganization of various church spaces.
Property Committee and Personnel Committee worked on policy to ensure annual renewal and update of
Property Management Consultant’s contract and its signature by Moderator.
Community Care
Pat Nelson, Lead Coordinator
Community Care supports members and friends of our congregation as they experience both hardships
and joy. Meals, rides to medical appointments, memorial service receptions, hand written notes, and
many phone calls are made by Westmorelanders as they reach out to offer care and support to our
community.
Activities
Provided transportation to appointments 3 times
Provided and delivered meals 3 times
Coordinated and served Memorial Service receptions using 4 volunteers
Wrote and mailed 39 notes of care and offers of support as well as staff birthday greetings (Leigh
Case)
Coordinators connected with Westmorelanders by email/phone/notes more times than we count
Continuing Projects
Encourage members and friends to join the list of volunteers in this ongoing ministry
Raise awareness of the services provided in this ministry
Inform the church staff or myself of needs in our community

Note from new coordinator of the coordinators
This report shows that less was done in 2016 than in 2015. A piece will be written for the bulletin to be
sure that all are aware of the help that we are ready to provide.
Middle East Committee

New Statement of Purpose
On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the Middle East Committee approved this statement of purpose.
The Westmoreland Middle East Committee strives with God’s guidance to engage all ages of the
congregation in seeking peace with justice in the Middle East through education, advocacy, and action.
Using a human rights-based non-partisan approach, together with global and local partners, we focus on
understanding and challenging the root causes of injustice, inequality, poverty, and war in the region. This
statement will guide our work during the coming years.
