11.30 This beginner’s class in gemmology will introduce you to some of the portable instruments that gemmologists
use on a day to day basis. These hand-held instruments can be carried in your pocket and assist in quick identification of gemstones for when you’re short on time. This is a practical session in which you will handle a variety of stones that you are likely to come across in the trade. Whether you are a designer, jewellery maker, retailer or customer, this workshop will provide you with information that you can take away and start to use the minute you head back out onto the show floor.

capabilities of CAD/CAM. 3D modelling programmes allow designers and manufacturers to create physical models of a piece for mass production purposes. It has revolutionised the jewellery industry, as we can now create intricate forms that were not previously possible using traditional goldsmithing techniques. 17.00 Open to exhibitors, buyers and visitors, the NAJ will provide an informative talk covering the newly revised
JET Certificate course. The session will provide a ‘ hands on’ taster of the exciting and industry relevant modules that make up the new JET Certificate. Participants will gain an insight into the course content that includes selling diamonds, identifying gemstones, reading hallmarks, watches and clocks, jewellery design and today’s current design stars, using the correct terminology for jewellery and how jewellery is manufactured.
