The world’s population is ageing, with the over 60s being the fastest growing segment of the global population (United Nations). This seminar stream will provide the latest insights into the ageing consumer and highlight new areas of research to better understand the role of nutrition to support healthy ageing and help in the management of age-related diseases. Leading experts will also review the latest developments in functional ingredients to meet the needs of this rapidly expanding group of consumers.
Healthy ageing: latest research
Diet and nutrition are key factors to maintain healthy ageing and help prevent disease. However, the physiological changes associated with ageing result in older people having some speci c nutritional needs that differ from the rest of the population. This session will explore how manufacturers are addressing the different physiological changes to meet these speci c needs. Leading experts will also provide an insight into the latest research examining the impact of ageing on the immune system.
