Nutritional management of diabetes and obesity
The prevalence of diabetes and obesity has increased dramatically and is a serious global health concern. It is estimated that by 2030, more than 50%
of the European population will have obesity. Overweight and obesity are responsible for up to 80% of cases of type 2 diabetes (WHO). Diabetes effects 415 million adults worldwide and by 2040 this is expected to rise to 642 million (International Diabetes Federation).
During this session, leading experts will explore the complex relationship between obesity, diabetes and diet. Speakers will highlight the latest research In developing functional foods for the management of these chronic diseases.
