Expressing Relief
What do you think you will feel if something that
you wish becomes true? What are you going to
express? You must feel relief, right? But, do you
know how to express your feeling verbally? In this
part of your subject, you will find some expressions
of relief, so, you will know how to use those
expressions in your daily life when you are
performing a conversation.
Now, look at the following dialogue between Zakiah
and Sri Vitayanti. Try to find the expressions first
then keep them in your mind.
Zakiah : Hi, Sri. Did you watch the football match between Indonesia and
Turkmenistan last night?
Sri : No. what‟s so interesting? Ummm… Indonesia must be defeated.
Zakiah : Come on, don‟t be too cynical. Indonesia should be put into account
like the other countries as well.
Sri : That‟s the fact, right? Many Indonesians are too busy fighting. They
even fight in football matches. It‟s really embarrassing. How Indonesia
comes to win if they still do that ?
Zakiah : You should be proud because Indonesia won the match last night
though it‟s nearly quits.
Sri : Really? Whew, it’s a great relief.
In the dialogue above, Sri expresses a relief. Now, you can try to use the
