do a fantastic job of interacting with my team, bringing up suspicious items like phishing e-mails, which we investigate daily.
Job challenges: Cybersecurity is an ever-changing landscape. As a daily game of cat and mouse, we stay up to date on activities, tactics, and trends. Luckily, cybersecurity has close-knit communities, and we have a plethora of knowledge and discussions to help us stay ahead of that curve.
AtmoSpirit: I’ve been around the block a bit in various organizations and every company has their version of culture. Here, the culture is present every day in interactions with employees. I value this greatly. Be Here Now is in the back of my mind when I’m working on tasks. I take time to move things around to fit and listen closely to understand the situation and how we can help.
Favorite song: Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. Favorite musician: George Strait.
After hours: Are mostly spent in my woodworking shop, building furniture for our house or welding things. My most recent piece is an automated fish-feeder for the living room aquarium of my supervisor, Information Security Director Tamara Lance.
I would like to meet: Computer Scientist Grace Hopper. Without her knowledge and expertise, my industry might not even exist today. The work and knowledge she put together are mindboggling.
Most people do not know: I am quadrilingual. In addition to English, I speak French, Farsi, and Japanese.
First job: The Army at age 17. I will be forever grateful for the oppor- tunities afforded to me during and after my Army career.
Growing up, what helped shape your values? My dad, Michael Calaway. He did his very best to make sure I had what I needed to be successful. His selflessness and good-natured attitude have helped me define my own values while walking in his footsteps.

Hired: As an I.T. security manager in 2019 following two rounds of interviews. One
of the many things that resonated with me was what multiple team members said: Employees tend to stay with the company. This was great to hear, especially considering that IT can be a volatile industry. I wanted stability, to help
strengthen and shape Atmos Energy’s already strong foundation. First day on the job: Was my birthday, the best birthday I have ever had. I shadowed my incumbent, Jimmy Moore, during the first week. There was a lot to take in. With an organization with a rich history like Atmos Energy, half the fun was just learning about how the company came to be and its roots. This solidified my reasoning for being here. Born and raised in: Mesquite, Texas.
Family: I am married to a wonderful woman, Sydney.
Joys of my job: In cybersecurity, most everything is a problem to
be solved, be it a phishing attempt, an external effort to breach our defenses, or just securing a program that supports our natural gas pipelines. Helping solve these problems is what drives me. Employees

EULESS, Texas – Atmos Energy donated $19,000 to 6Stones for their annual Night of Hope. The nonprofit partnered with Hurst Euless Bedford ISD to hand out more than 1,200 turkeys, Christmas gifts, and clothing for children.
“This year’s event was a drive-through due to the COVID-19 threat, so 6Stones staff held up photos of employee volunteers that would normally have been there,” says MPA Kelly Biegler (at right behind the sign with 6Stones executive director Jen Leney). “Pictured” from left are Jarrell Betts, Frances Clements, Sammy Sweeten (top), Derek Wuistinger, and (not shown) Jeff Kyser.
