Our culture

Welcome to Chapter Three. In Chapter Two, you learned about
one element of weather. In this chapter, you will learn about
maintaining Tanzanian culture. Culture guides how people greet,

sing songs, and play cultural games and drama.

Different ways of greeting
Normally, children with good manners greet each other. They

also greet elders, even if they do not know each other. Each
community in Tanzania has its own culture. Greetings are among
the key elements in maintaining culture.

Activity 1

Show how people in your community greet each other.

Study the following pictures and then answer the questions
that follow.
