Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction set in a fictional universe, often inspired by

real world myth and folklore. Its roots are in oral traditions, which then became

fantasy literature and drama.

There are many different elements to a fantasy novel, such as magic, myths, folklore,

and these often take place on a world that is not ours, although it may often look like

it! There may also be many fantastical creatures such as giants, elves, dwarves, ‘Dark

Creatures’ such as orcs, goblins, trolls, plus, of course, dragons.
