Did You Know?
One Thousand And One Nights or Arabian Nights is actually
a collection of folk tales from around the Middle East as
well as India and Persia (modern Iran).
There are many different versions of the tales but they all have
the main base of Shahrazād telling the king Shahryār tales but
not finishing them, because if she did, he would kill her the next
day. After 1001 nights she was eventually pardoned.
The stories of Aladdin, Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves and
Sinbad the Sailor were not in the original Arabic collection.
They were added later.
