~s You Were
I'll always remember you Mom, not as you are now, but as you were. So very
beautiful both inside and out, you truly had a heart of gold. So, when your story is
told, I want to make sure it reflects this: I would be nothing, have
nothing, and know nothing, ifit were not for you. The woman I am now, is a true
reflection of you, Mom, as you were. You were there with your children every
step of the way and raised us up on your own. You taught us that as long as we
had God with us, we'd never be alone. You encouraged us to be so much more
than we could actually see. When I was a girl, you were the woman I
admired, the only woman I've ever wanted to be. When I became a woman, you
became my best friend, and you were that to me, all the way up until the end. I'll
always re111ember you Mon1, not as you are now, but only as you were.
So outspoken with a spirit full of life and laughter, whenever you walked into a
room, everybody knew you were IN THAT ROOM. I could always count on you
to make me laugh, no matter how I was feeling or what kind of day I had. I
always want to remember you Mom, just as you were. I said so many times that
you were the hardest working woman I know. I got my work ethic from you.
Resilience and resourcefulness, yes, I got those from you too. I witnessed you
make a lot out of a little, and you did it all with a smile. I witnessed you take the
lemons life handed you and make the sweetest lemonade. You did this, time and
time again. I know you fought as hard as you could, all the way until the end.
I will take every memory, every conversation, every single big laugh I had with
you and I'll keep it very near to my heart. Because during this time when we are
apart, I always want to remember you Mom, not how you are,
but just as you were.
l lov,e you always andforever
Your only girl, Marie
