Key Stage 3 - 4: Citizen Science

Environmental education shouldn’t end when pupils leave the school site.

Encourage your pupils to become citizen scientists and engage in real life

examples of environmental action by getting involved in local projects,

        surveys or monitoring schemes.

Key Stage 2: Create a ‘Scaremow’

If your class is taking part in the ‘No Mow May’

challenge, as well as monitoring the flora and
fauna that populate the area, how about creating

some friendly reminders for grounds maintenance
teams to leave the area to grow.

The ‘scaremows’ also help to start a conversation
with other learners and parents about why they’re

        there.

                                                 Foundation Phase: Water Flow

This fun activity explores how water flows
downhill in streams, gathering into rivers

before flowing out to sea. It can help children

to understand the natural landscape and lead
                                                 to conversations about flooding.

        Foundation Phase: Awesome Artists and

        Super Scientists

Three creative and three scientific activities, each
involving exploring and appreciating the trees in

        your school’s grounds and community.
