Historical background,
geographical and natural
features of the city
According to the geography of Macau, it is divided Macau Peninsula and
Taipa Island. Through three mainly bridges, they can solve the separation.
The first bridge is the Governador Nobre Carvalho Bridge, which is opened
in 1974 (Macau SAR, 2018). Besides, Macau government tried to improve
the traffic issues of one bridge and started to build other two bridges to
connect Macau Peninsula and Taipa. They are Amizade Bridge and Sai Van
Bridge, which built up in 1994 and 2005 (Macau SAR, 2018). Based on the
separation, Macau rely on the land vehicle, such as the car and bus.
Macau government also set up the sustainable transport planning to
improve the traffic.
