Historical background,
Macao SAR is
composed of three
geographical and natural
main districts,
including Macao
features of the city Peninsula, Taipa Island
and Coloane Island. In
terms of parishes,
Macao SAR is
comprised of seven
parishes: Santo
António, São Lázaro,
São Lourenço, Sé,
Nossa Senhora de
Fátima, Nossa Senhora
do Carmo (Taipa), São
Francisco Xavier
(Coloane).
The coldest months of the year are the months
of January and February since the cold air is
brought to Macao. The months from July to
September are the hottest months of the year.
Also, Macao has a humid subtropical climate,
therefore, the months from March to June are
the most humid months of the year, and the
precipitation ensured an adequate water
supply. The months from May to September
are the rainy period with typhoon (何偉傑,
2011), so Macao also called "a city blew by the
sea breeze" or "hometown of typhoon" (嚴忠
明,2006).
