III. Professional Development/Capacity Building for Certification. Subject specific training for
teachers to receive upskilling to deliver subjects in the CXC suite. This particular training
programme will lead to certification and will include an assessment component as a requirement
for certification. The proposal is that the professional development training will be done through
partnerships with existing regional Tertiary Level Institutions (TLIs). It is anticipated that the type
of certification offered through these partnerships will leverage the curriculum and assessment
expertise within CXC and the content expertise of CXC Resource persons to develop the courses
to be offered as part of their training programmes. The Caribbean Examinations Council will
explore possible models for partnering with TLIs to offer these courses. Additionally, the Council
will explore potential partnerships with MOEs to receive persons with CXC Professional
Certificates for promotion in MOEs as well as employment in MOEs.

IV. Enrichment Professional Development Courses/Events. The Enrichment PD courses/events will
leverage internal expertise within CXC to offer training programmes to teachers, administrators
and technocrats within Ministries of Education both within the region and extra regionally. These
programmes will be offered using a combination of online and f2f modalities. In November of each
year, a schedule of courses will be developed and shared with stakeholders who can access these
training programmes at a cost. The Enrichment PD courses/events can be done using workshops
and seminars as part of the CXC Summer Institute. CXC Summer Institute will provide
opportunities for intensive short courses to be available to teachers, administrators and ministry
                       technocrats.

               Enrichment and Networking Programmes

               9. The Enrichment and Networking component of the CXC Learning Institute will focus on three key
areas; Study Tours, Conferences and Internships/Apprenticeships.

                  I. Study Tours will provide opportunities for other examination boards to observe aspects of
innovative approaches taken by CXC in its examinations cycle/process. There have already been
expressions of interest from the Examinations Council of Lesotho for Study Tour opportunities to
observe the Council’s e-testing and e-marking processes. This opportunity can be further explored
and formalized through the CXC Learning Institute.

II. Conferences. The CXC Conferences will provide opportunities for teachers, ministry technocrats
and school leaders from across the Region to share knowledge and discuss perspective and
challenges that are common across the Region. The Conference will focus on specific emerging
areas of education practice that impact the Region. Additionally, the conference will provide
opportunities for networking with peers across the Region and form communities of practice in
                       education.

III. Internships/Apprenticeships. The Caribbean Examinations Council, through the Learning
Institute, will offer internship opportunities for stakeholders. Through these internship
programmes, persons will be able to hone their skills in areas where there is expertise in the
organization. The Council can benefit significantly through this internship programme as persons
who participate as interns can be potentially identified as prospective employees when posts
become vacant within CXC. A vibrant Internship programme at CXC can provide an avenue though
which the Council’s mandate of recruiting the best fit person for the job can be achieved.
