that the General Objectives as stated adequately reflected the goals of the syllabus. The persons who
disagreed offered no explanations. Eight (67 per cent) of the respondents were of the view that the
knowledge and skills covered in the syllabus were appropriate for students in a post-secondary level
programme, and that the modules of the syllabus comprised a coherent Law programme for the
intended population. All of the respondents indicated that the Specific Objectives indicated the
breadth and depth to which the knowledge and skills in each module should be covered. They did not
identify any specific objective which needed to be clarified, neither topics to be omitted or any
additional ones that should be included in the syllabus. They also stated that the Suggested Teaching
and Learning Activities identified by the Review Committee would satisfy the achievement of the
Specific Objectives. The participants were equally divided regarding whether or not the SBA
requirements should remain as they are, but no one gave any suggestions as to what should be
changed.
12. After a discussion on the feedback, the members of the Panel accepted the recommendations
of the Review Committee and proceeded to make minor adjustments to all components of the syllabus
to ensure that there would be clarity, accuracy and currency, as well as precise alignment among
General Objectives, Specific Objectives, Content, Suggested Teaching and Learning Activities and
Resources. For example, current topics and legislations such as cruelty to children, ill treatment and
neglect of children, child sexual abuse and buggery were added to Unit 1 Module 3: Criminal Law. In
addition, some Specific Objectives were re-written to ensure that candidates are adequately prepared
to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the concepts by applying them to scenarios
and cases that they would be given in the examinations. A Glossary of Legal Terms was also added to
the syllabus (see Table 1 for examples, and details at Appendix III)
