Cycle of Life
At the age of 16, Catherine left high school and
the Girl’s Home. Luckily, she soon found a job at a
supermarket in Ocho Rios. Her boss did not pay
her with money but provided her with food and
shelter. She worked eight hours a day and also
did her boss’ laundry and cooked for both of
them. Her boss was surprised to see the young
girl cope so well.
Everyday, Catherine would do anything that she
could to show her appreciation. All was well until
one day when an ill-mannered customer walked
in and started to speak to Catherine in a way she
did not like. She got furious and spoke her mind
to the rude teenager. Her grandmother had
always taught her to be strong and stand up for
what is right.
To her surprise, it was the boss’ daughter and the
boss was not happy with the way Catherine had
spoken to his daughter. As a result, Catherine was
told to pack her things and go.
