Donkey’s Awful Day
Donkey laughed and shouted when this
happened and brayed, “Hee-haw, hee-haw!
Take that you mean children!” He tried to reach
some of the young mangoes in the tree to throw
back at them but he saw that they were on the
thinnest branches and knew they would break
under his weight.
After a while, he saw his friends the birds flying
by. He called out to them for a lift but they were
flying so high they didn’t hear him. Then, when
he looked down he saw that the children were
climbing the mango tree as well. This made him
bray even louder, “Help! Help! Someone help me!
These awful, wicked, mean, cruel children are
throwing stones at me!”
Luckily, some farmers working in their nearby
fields came to see what all the noise was about.
They caught the children just as they were
climbing the tree. They called the police who
came and took the children home to their parents.
