The Most Horrible Day in South Hill
Although speechless, he looked as if he was
screaming for help with his whole body. His eyes
were wide with fright and his mouth hung
wide open. As I ran over to him, I kept shouting,
“Call the ambulance and police!” I could see that he
was bruised and bleeding.
When I got to him, I asked, “What happened?”
At first his speech was slurred with fright. Then he
whimpered, “My father abuses me all the time,
especially when he is drunk.”
John paused for a while and then he continued,
“This morning was the worst. He not only shouted
at me but he took his belt from his pants and
started to beat me. Even with the buckle!”
I helped John to his feet and took him to sit on the
couch. The ambulance and the police arrived at
Mr Reds’ house very quickly.
