SKETCHES SKETCH IDEATIONS: Draw in 4 Perspectives
This part of the exercise was less grueling than the first for me, and seemed
to make more plays on my imagination as well. I realized how specifics were
important in zipper configuration depending on the zipper I was transposing
from my thought process- whether they zip from the bottom up or vice versa.
After the challemge of drawing 30 assorted zipper variations, the repeating of
some of those concepts seemed inevitable. I would say the tent perspectives and
the unzipping soul (Page 7) are ideas I might pursue in developing further, with
the zip and unzipped in the upper right corner of page 7 as close 2nd decision
swayers. You never know what you are thinking until you must draw it all out.
SKETCH IDEATIONS: 30 Quick Sketches
This is my choice for an unfomfortable, challenging exercise- and equally
brain busting- redrafting the zipper 30 times on any level is daunting. To even
make it more of a challenge, I used pen & ink for some of my sketching, and
by design 20 it was difficult to create any further. I would say the human figure
and the unizipping zipper from page 1 and the word cloud-esque ‘ZZZZiP’
from panel 4 (shown on page 10). They are the most visually engaging and
might appeal most to the intended target audience which are universal zipper
users and recognizers. Some countour drawing and shape experiments were
also integrated into the quick sketchings... IDEATION at its very finest, I say.
