351. The news of the appointment Political Agent at Koweit was hailed by
the Chief with feelings of sincere joy, which he expressed in a letter addressed
to Major Cox on 7th August 1904. He regarded it as a guarantee of the British
protection of his interests. With the appointment of the Political Agent at Koweit,
we enter a new stage in its history and this forms a convenient place for closing
this precis.
