        Prosecutions
           6. During the period of September 1st, 1956 to 31st December, 1956, a total of 69 persons
        were prosecuted and convictions obtained in each case. Of these, 62 were charged for illegal
        entry and 7 for failing to be in possession of a Residence Permit.

        No Objection Certificates
           7. Of the NO Objection Certificates for entry into Bahrain issued by the British Political
        Agency, only 483 applications were referred to this Branch. Of these, 239 were recommended
       and 244 not recommended.

       Visas
           8. The British Political Agency referred 282 applications for visas to this Branch. Of
       these, 157 were recommended and 125 not recommended.

       Travel Documents
           9. The British Political Agency referred 118 applications for travel documents to this
       Branch. Of these, 115 were recommended for country of origin only and 3 not recommended.

       Residence Permits
           10. This Branch became responsible for authorising, or otherwise, the issue of Residence   !
       Permits to persons subject to the jurisdiction of the Bahrain Courts as from the 1st November,
       1956. The issue of the actual permit is, however, still carried out by the Passport Department.
       Though this is not a satisfactory arrangement, other arrangements cannot be made until
       adequate office accommodation is available.
          11. The British Political Agency continues to issue Residence Permits to those persons
       subject to their jurisdiction.
