(aiskcr) and of munitions and supplies are necessary to attack the
fortress. [You shall state also] if these essential guns, munitions and
    l
supplies are available in Baghdad and Basra; also if there are enough
soldiers [on hand] or whether more of thorn arc needed and [if so]
where such troops can be found. [Furthermore], it is likely that the
Portuguese foe, who has his main fleet at Hormuz, could come to

opposo [an expedition to the Bahrayn], so you are to take special care
that no situation should ariso which may [God forbid] be contrary to

declares that if tho above-mentioned island bo conquered, its
annual yield will be 40,000 filori. You shall write and inform us if this
annual revenue will in fact be forthcoming, over and above local
■i expenses, or if the island can produce more. You shall make known,
a in addition, whether or not the ships at Basra are sufficient or if it is
    *■
important to build the eight galleys, the construction of which was
ordered in an [earlier] firman; you shall state also where you will get
the [necessary] guns if these [eight galleys] are indeed constructed.
You shall build ships as soon as the timber arrives and in short you
3 shall take note of all the conditions relating to the aforesaid island and
I tell us in detail about them.
