Navy was not therefore of any extraordinary length. Four years
later he succeeded his brother as the fourth Earl Granville. He was
Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1937 onwards and in
1945 became Governor of Northern Ireland. Illness eventually
forced him to resign and he died in London on 25 June 1953.
