5. tho total exports for tho year amount to Rs. 14,11,3G3 as against
Its. 17,G6,1S3 of tho previous year or a fall of 19 G per cent The decroaso of
export fell entirely upon the steamer traffic whilst buggnlows liavo well main
tained their own and show a very respectable increase of Its. 1,24,143 on last
year’s high figures. This increase is shared by the following items:—
Arras and ammunition, ghi and wood for building boats.
Owing to the disturbed statoof Persia firearms wero in great demand there
and smuggling to Persia seems to have been very successful.
Towards tho close of the year good rains fell and Bedouins brought in
plenty of ghi, a good deal of which goes to Bahrain. Boat building industry
is on the increaso and wood was therefore largely imported for it and for the
fishor folk of the Shatt-ol-Arab who take their requirements from Kuwait.
