to Shaikh Ian bon Ali at tho ond of ltnmnzan asking him to ahdionto from tho
Ohiofship of Bahrain and subtract his othor dues, hut all tho tribes of Bahrain
aro supporting him in tho mattor of abdication and subtraction of any of his
rights. Notwithstanding this Colonel Knox and tho Political Agont wroto that
the Ohiofship should remain in tho name of Shaikh Isa hon Ali, but tho
Government affairs and official communications should ho done by Shaikh
Hamad. This was a curious troatment similar to which has not boon hoard in
tho past. The Political Agont took ovor tho Customs and fixod small
allowances for some of tho /.I Khalifah family, contrary to treaties ond agree

English nation, I shout loudly to tho people of Groat Britain, so that thoy may
rescue thoso by whom I had Leon protected 6inco half a contury ond proservo
tho English respect whioh has been stained by had treatment. I hog the
Government to mako enquiries in all tho mattors of Bahrain and put an end to
thoso disturbances, otherwise tho Arabs who cannot hear injustico and do not
submit to disgrace aro not responsible for any anarchy and ruin.
MUHMAD BEN ABDOLLAH AL KHALIPAH.
