In reply to your letter dated 20th Safar regarding that should I wish to grant
permission to a Bank to open a branch or agency for the Bank in my country, as
mentioned in Article 25 of the concession, I shall obtain the approval of His
Majesty’s Government before entering into any negotiations with the Bank.

FUJAIRAH EXPLORATION AGREEMENT
Exploration Agreement between the Ruler of Fujairah and Petroleum Development
(Trucial Coast) Limited, dated August 18, 1953
In the Name of God the Merciful.
This is an Agreement made at Dubai on the 18th August, 1953, that is, the

exercise of his powers as Ruler of Fujaira, on his own behalf and on behalf of
and in the names of his heirs and successors to whom is and shall be vested for
the time being the responsibility for the control and Government of the State of
Fujaira (hereinafter called “ the Shaikh ”) of the one part and Petroleum Develop
ment (Trucial Coast) Limited, a Company registered in Great Britain under the
Companies Act, 1929 (hereinafter called “ the Company ”), its successors and
assigns of the second part.
Article 1
The area to which this Agreement refers is the State of Fujaira, including all
islands and territorial waters appertaining thereto and all the sea-bed and sub-soil
under those territorial waters (hereinafter called " the State ”).
