                       The real doorcase on this head is about 10 per cent for a cargo of 2,200
                                               tons of rico from Calcutta which was ex­
                                               pected to arrive in Maroh reached Maskat
                   after the end of the year.
                       The decline in this head is due to largo stook on hand of the previous year
                                               in which an increaso of 59 per cent, was
                               Sugw.

                   and Mauritius via Bombay. None was imported from Europe. Refined or
                   loaf sugar is imported from Belgium, Austria and a small quantity from
                   France. That of Austria is imported from Aden.
                       The deorcase in imports of this article from India is again attributed to a
                                               large stock remaining on hand of the
                             Pitft^oah.
                                               previous year’s import in which it showed
                   an increase of SO per cent. There is a decrease in the import of American
                   sheeting which is accounted for by the arrival of 400 bales valued at Rs. 00,000
                   at the end of the year instead of in March and so it may be taken that the
                   import is normaL
                       Tho decrease is duo to wines and spirits having been excluded from this
                                                head and shown separately, the value of
                             MiKellueou
                                                which is Rs. 50,000.
                       There is no direct trade with Europe except in arms and ammunition, *12-4
                   cwts. of refined sugar and ahout 4,480 gallons of wines and spirits; nor is there
                   any with America with the exception of piece-goods and kerosene oil-which has
                   entirely displaced the Russian oil from the market.
                       Export9.—The total value of exports including specie came to Bs. 42,45,450
                   as against Rs. 36,93,820 in the preceding, year, showing an increase of
                   Rs. 5,51,630 or 15 per cent. There is no duty on export and consequently the
                   Customs Superintendent keeps no statisicts of merchandise leaving the country
                   and the figures given here are approximates arrived at from information of
                   export traders.
                       "With the exception of pearls and specie which show an increase of 150 and
                   69 per cent, respectively, all the items of export show decline chiefly in the
                    following:—
