Accidental deaths, etc.—Two Somalis who with several others were occupying a room in a local
Khan were suffocated by fumes from a charcoal fire while sleeping. Four other men who were in the
same room were affected but recovered. Fumes from-charcoal fires have accounted for many lives
in Bahrain when charcoal braziers arc used in shut rooms during the cold weather.
A boy of eight years was drowned while bathing in Adari pool with his relations. Almost
every year at least one life is lost from drowning at this bathing place.
Two people were killed by electrocution. A boy touched a broken live wire in the Telegraph
area and was killed immediately and a woman was killed by touching a wire which her husband had
put up, without authority or inspection, to connect a neighbouring house.
It was found in the case of almost every fire which occurred in Manamah and elsewhere that the
cause of the fire was a primus stove either bursting or setting alight women’s draperies or Saaf build
ings. Stoves of this kind arc undoubtedly the cause of most of the fires which occur in Bahrain.
