                                  OIL INSPECTION

(Report by Mr. G. B. Thompson, Government Oil Inspector).
Early in the year, it appeared that the Refinery throughout would settle down to a regular
figure, but events in Iran and the stoppage of the Abadan Refinery altered the picture and every
effort was made to help, meet the shortage caused by the loss of output from Abadan.
Conversions were made to plant so that maximum output went over the 200,000 barrel a day
        mark.
In order to obtain this throughout, it was necessary to bring in additional supplies of Crude
Oil from Arabia and these were carried by Tanker as the Pipe-line was already loaded to capacity.
The Bahrain Production continues to remain around a steady figure of 30,000 barrels per day
and figures for the last five years are as follows.
                       1366 1947 1,190,319 Long Tons.

During the year, a number of new wells have been drilled including tests somewhat outside
the limit of the normal fields ; in addition several wells have been repaired and anticorrosive measures
        taken.
The inspection of ship’s cargoes and the gauging of the quantities has been carried on and
figures of this work are as follows.
                       1367 1948 240 ships, 577 parcels 2,423,064 Long Tons.
