      to Mecca, this being the largest number of pilgrims from Bahrain for many years. Several large
      parties of pilgrims did the journey by air, including one of the Shia Qadis and several members of
      the Ruling Family.

           The total number of passengers who landed in Bahrain was 29,438 of whom 1626 arrived by
      air, 2,840 by steamers and 24,972 by native craft, dhows and launches. Over 600 Persian divers
      indebted to Bahrain nakhudas were allowed to come to Bahrain during the diving season.

           During the year 32 persons acquired Bahrain Nationality, 37 persons were arrested for attempt­
      ing to enter Bahrain unlawfully and ten nakhudas were prosecuted for smuggling people into the
      country.
