Now, I don’t mean to get
cheesy. But think about
it--How amazing are
our bones? Our lungs,
hearts, and brains are
virtually useless to us
once they’re taken from
the body. They rot and
deteriorate after a few
hours. But our bones?
They are immortal. They
grow as we grow, age as
we age. The skeleton is
the framework of who
we are. It shapes us, it
protects us, and it helps
us move. And after our
lives end, either dra-
matically at a young age
like me or from natural
causes such as old age,
we leave behind a piece
of us (or, rather, a few
hundred pieces..) to live
on and be used for sci-
ence.
