 EXCECUTIVE SUMMARY
With Covid-19 coming to an end, a common view on the future for fashion has emerged: the endless treadmill of seasonal collections and the continuous traveling circus of fashion industry professionals needs to change. With the system of Fashion Weeks proving unsustainable, economically, environmentally and in terms of the diminishing creativity of brands, we have to rethink and rewrite the codes. CUT is a trend- and artwork inspiration which aims to change peoples attitudes towards showcasing fashion collections and the way in which the industry itself consumes fashion.
CUT is designed as a reversible magazine, explaining the sustainability challenge in 2020 with specific attention to fashion weeks and presenting the 2030 vision superposed on the Amsterdam Fashion Week. The Amsterdam Fashion Week Platform, in 2030 no longer an annual but a continuous event, offers a solution for most of the 2020 challenges and has been arrived at by anticipating change and acting upon it, never being radical but always in full understanding of the needs of the community and the possibilities of technology.
The Amsterdam Fashion Week Platform combines physical and virtual events in an innovative way, thereby promoting sustainability and transparency and reducing waste and emissions. In 2030, Amsterdam Fashion Week is a household brand name with international branches and regarded as one of the leaders of the fashion community.
